Are you experiencing slow internet speeds from your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?
You might have FUP (Fair User Policy) but still your network speed is slower than a snail. This problem is not unusual for internet users which begs the question ; how do you remedy your slow paced Internet speed?
Internet speed is mainly dependent on DNS (Domain Naming System).
DNS default servers are provided by our ISP, these provided DNS generates the internet.
These provided default DNS servers are sometimes too slow preventing you from getting full speed experience when using said default DNS.
To remedy this and get fast web browsing experience, you can change default DNS settings to Google DNS settings or some other custom DNS settings.
With Google DNS, you get the maximum internet speed provided by your ISP.
CHANGING TO GOOGLE DNS
This trick works on Windows versions XP 7/8/8.1 and 10.
Steps
- Locate your network connection icon, this can be found on right side of task bar, either Wired or Wireless.
- Right click on the icon and click on "Open Network and Sharing Center"
- Active networks are shown here, click on the
connection name.

- Locate and click on "Properties" on the window.
Another window will pop up showing the network's properties.
- Locate Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPCC) settings and double it.
- IPv4 properties window will open,switch "Obtain DNS server address automatically" to "Use the following DNS server addresses"
- Enter Preferred DNS Server : 8.8.8.8
- And Alternate DNS Server : 8.8.4.4
- Click OK and restart your connection.
NB : The settings for one connection has no effect other connections i.e if you change DNS to Google DNS for Wi-Fi, it will have no effect on Ethernet/LAN.
Now you can change your default ISP's provided DNS to Google DNS servers and enjoy amazing internet speed!!!
